Recording receipts by photo

The core habit: buy something, photograph the receipt, send it. Ten seconds, done.

On WhatsApp

  1. Take a clear photo of the receipt — flat, well lit, whole slip in frame.
  2. Send it to SubReady in the chat, right at the till if you like.
  3. SubReady reads the supplier, date and amount, picks a category (Materials, Fuel, Tools…), and confirms what it recorded.
  4. Wrong detail? Just reply: “change category to fuel”, “make it £80”, “it was cash”, or “delete that”.
  5. Need to fix an older one? Reply directly to that earlier message (“make it £55”) — SubReady edits exactly that entry.

PDF receipts and utility bills work too — send the PDF and it’s logged as a single expense.

In the web or mobile app

  1. Open Expenses.
  2. Add an expense and attach the receipt image, or review anything captured from WhatsApp.
  3. Edit amount, date, category or payment method from the expense’s detail view.
