Help · Getting startedThe dashboard: what every number means
Five numbers tell you how the business is doing. Here’s where each comes from.
The headline numbers
- Money in — income received in the period: paid invoices, CIS gross pay from uploaded statements, platform earnings, rent. On the default cash basis, income counts when it’s paid, not when invoiced.
- Money out — business expenses recorded from receipts, typed expenses and bank statement lines. Personal spending and drawings are excluded — they’re not business costs.
- Profit — money in minus money out for the period.
- Tax set-aside — the running estimate of what to put away for tax, from the live tax estimate, with CIS already deducted taken into account.
- Safe to spend — what’s realistically yours after the tax set-aside is protected.
Drill into any figure
- Open the web app (app.subready.co.uk) or mobile app.
- Tap or click a figure — every number has a breakdown behind it showing the exact records it’s built from.
- Spot something wrong? Open that record and correct it — the dashboard updates immediately.
Ask instead of looking
The same numbers are one WhatsApp message away:
- “What’s safe to spend?”
- “How much did I earn this month?”
- “What did I spend on materials in June?”
- “Money in vs out this week?”
SubReady answers from your own books, in seconds.
If a number looks wrong
- Check for unconfirmed expense drafts — typed expenses need a YES before they count.
- Check “awaiting match” on the Bank page — see statement matching.
- Make sure paid invoices are marked paid — recording payments.
